Kevin Jeanes entered the hearts of the people of Detroit when he arrived at WXYZ-TV in 2017. Since then, locals have started their day with the meteorologist and rely on him for weather updates and warnings. However, he has recently announced his departure. Kevin Jeanes is leaving WXYZ-TV in April 2023. Since the news broke, there have been many questions. So read on to find out what Kevin Jeanes had to say about his exit from WXYZ 7 Action News.

Kevin Jeanes to Leave WXYZ-TV

Born and raised in Naperville, Illinois, Kevin Jeanes studied meteorology at Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 2010. And a year later, he obtained the National Weather Association (NWA) Television/Radio Seal of Approval.

Right after he graduated, Jeanes began his professional career as a meteorologist for WWBT NBC12 News in Richmond, Virginia, and then joined KOLD News 13 in Tucson, Arizona.

In 2017, the Emmy Award-winning meteorologist arrived in Detroit, Michigan, when he became the meteorologist at WXYZ-TV. And after relocating from Arizona, he mastered the different challenges of forecasting in the Midwest.

Since moving to Detroit, Kevin Jeanes married his wife, Lisa. The couple bought their first home and welcomed two children. But now, the meteorologist will soon leave the place he has called home for many years.

Kevin Jeanes has accepted a position at WMAQ-TV’s NBC 5 in Chicago. And in about a week, he will join their team. Furthermore, his last day at WXYZ-TV will be April 7, 2023.
